Suspect named in murder of Rockford rapper

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Winnebago County authorities have named a suspect wanted in the death of a Rockford rapper known for his positive messages and anti-violence stances.

Eric L. Brown, 28, now faces charges and is in custody at the Winnebago County Jail. .

He’s accused of shooting and killing 40-year-old Robert Wash on Oct. 15, 2019 in Rockford.

On that day, police responded tot he 4900 block of Harrison Avenue and found Walsh suffering from a gunshot wound. He would later die at a Rockford hospital.

During an investigation, police identified Brown as a suspect. He’s charged with first degree murder, home invasion and armed robbery.

Brown is in jail on a $5 million bond. He’ll appear in court on unrelated charges at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, 2019.
