ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rep. Cheri Bustos (IL – 17th District) was in Rockford on Thursday to hear from others in the community about health care.
Bustos was at a roundtable discussion at the Crusader Community Health Clinic on West State Street. Bustos talked about open enrollment as well as lowering prescription drug costs with other local officials. With open enrollment having started back on Nov. 1, Rep. Bustos brought up a decline with enrollment.
“Right now we’re in the middle of open enrollment,” said Rep. Bustos. “So for people who want to get into the Affordable Care Act. And the problem is that because the spending has been cut on helping people navigate that, by the accounts that we learned about tonight, the enrollment is down at least 10 percent.”
Rep. Bustos says she will go to Washington, D.C., next week to help negotiate legislation that would help lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs.
