Rockford care center receives license to sell recreational marijuana

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A care center in Rockford has received approval from the State of Illinois to operate a recreational marijuana dispensary.

Mapleglen Care Center, located at 4777 Stenstrom Rd., says they’ve received approval from the state. The care center currently operates as one of Illinois’ Licensed Medical Cannabis dispensaries.

Mapleglen opened their doors in Rockford in 2015 and is one of the first medical marijuana dispensaries to open in the state.

Adults 21 and over can begin purchasing recreational marijuana on Jan. 1, 2020.
