Freeport man accused of impersonating an officer during a home invasion

FREEPORT (WREX) — A Freeport man is accused of impersonating a police officer during a home invasion.

Freeport Police say they were called for reports of a home invasion on Monday night in the 500 block of N. Winnebago Ave.

The victim met with officers and said she was watching T.V. when the doorbell rang she heard “Freeport Police, open the door.”

When the victim opened the door, she says a man pointed a flashlight in her face while also pointing a gun at her.

The victim was told to lay on the ground and was then held at gunpoint. At that time, two other suspects entered the home.

The suspects took the victim’s marijuana and purse, which included her phone and cash.

No injuries were reported.
