Rockford Fire to host open house this weekend as part of Fire Prevention Week

ROCKFORD (WREX) — This week is National Fire Prevention Week and the Rockford Fire Department is hosting an open house for the public.

Families are welcome to visit Rockford Fire Station #5, 391 North Trainer Rd. on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be tours of the fire station, interactive games for kids, education and training on fire hazards, fire engine and ambulance tours, free blood pressure checks, t-shirts and more.

Rockford firefighters and Sparky the Dog will be on hand to answer questions and take photos.

The event is free and open to the public.
