ROCKFORD (WREX) — There is a new option to get your haircut on Rockford’s west side.

New Cuts Barber Shop opened on Thursday on the 3400 Block of Auburn Street, giving discounts to clergy and first responders.

The shop prides itself on offering a welcoming community to all races and backgrounds, including several different discounts.

First responders, pastors and senior citizens all receive 1/2 price haircuts while kids 12 and under can get their haircut for $7. Straight A students can get a haircut for free, according to the business.

Owners of the business hope to offer Rockford the best haircut experience in the city.

“We wanted to bring a new business to the west side of Rockford that does something different. I know that there’s a barber shop on every corner and people can choose to get their haircut wherever they would like, but we want them to be comfortable coming here. We want to be a step above, a cut above the rest,” said New Cuts Barber Shop Co-Owner Delicia Harris.

New Cuts is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. A grand opening is set for Saturday, Oct. 12.
