BYRON (WREX) — A threat directed at Byron Middle School was found not be credible.
A letter was sent to parents on Wednesday, saying the district received an anonymous tip through the District’s Safe School Helpline concerning a potential threat toward Byron Middle School.
The district says it immediately contacted law enforcement and the school resource officer. During a joint investigation, authorities determined there was no credible threat.
“Through the investigation, it was determined that there was no credible threat. As a school District, we take all threats seriously and work to ensure student and staff safety,” Supt. Buster Barton said in a statement.
In the letter to parents, the district said it felt confident to send children to school.
