ROCKFORD (WREX) — Crusader Community Health breaks ground on a multi-million dollar project Tuesday on in hopes to continue its mission of quality healthcare on Rockford’s west side.

Crusader will build a $13 million clinic at 1200 W. State St. that will offer primary medical and dental care.

“We wanted to have our leadership team close to where our patients are so that we don’t lose touch and we’re close by and real close to our history and where our founding was,” Executive Vice President Sam Miller said.

The 48,000 square-foot facility aims to modernize healthcare for patients, regardless of their ability to pay.

“Few organizations do exactly what they say and Crusader treats every single person who walks through their doors with dignity and respect,” said Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara.

Construction is expected to be completed in January 2021.
