ROCKFORD (WREX) — Boylan senior tennis player Natalie Muldowney is our WREX Athlete of the Week.
Muldowney returns to the court for her senior year after taking her junior off from high school tennis to focus on academics and compete in USTA events. Now she’s back and having fun playing doubles.
“I’m really glad I decided to come back again,” Muldowney said. “It’s really fun.”
She saw a lot of success her freshman and sophomore years on the court for the Lady Titans. While she enjoys the end of her high school tennis career, she’s getting ready for a rigorous academic pursuit at the next level where she intends to study medicine.
“I’ve always been really interested in the body and internal medicine and diseases have always been interesting to me,” she said. “I don’t know exactly what kind of doctor I want to be, but I’ve considered being an internal medicine or immunology and infectious disease doctor.”
Muldowney says her biggest strengths on the court are her athleticism and speed. She hopes to put those traits on full display as she and her teammates get ready for the postseason.
