ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford native and musical prodigy Emily Bear has set the stage for her formal debut as an original pop songwriter and vocalist, and will release a new album in October.
The music video, Emotions, was just released and a second one, Dancin’, will be released next week. The album will launch on Oct. 18.
Bear is already scoring major films like Warner Brothers’ feature film Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. She’s performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and The Hollywood Bowl along with the Montreux Jazz Festival, Blue Note Tokyo, performing compositions of her own and classics alongside orchestras and ensembles.
She is the recipient of two Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers awards, the 2018 Abe Olman Scholarship at the Songwriter Hall of Fame Awards, and she was the youngest person to win the Morton Gould Young Composers Award. She also received the 2018 Order of Lincoln Award from her home state of Illinois.
Emily made her debut at 5 years old on Ellen, and has succeeded at 18 years old to being an in-demand global performer and composer.
