Firehouse Subs provides lunch to Rockford Fire on 9/11

ROCKFORD (WREX) — The Rockford Fire Department got lunch for free from a sandwich shop in Rockford.

Firehouse Subs provided sandwiches and chips to Fire Station 5 on Wednesday afternoon.

The lunch also included a heartfelt message from the sandwich shop that read:

“We know the important role you play in your community, and on September 11 we’re reminded of the sacrifices you make for our safety. Please accept this card, signed by our crew and local community members, as a symbol of our appreciation for your efforts.”

2,977 people were killed on September 11, 2001, making it the deadliest terrorist act in world history.
