ROCKFORD (WREX) — People in Rockford have another easy way to get to Chicago.

Rockford Mass Transit hosted a ribbon cutting at their East Transfer Center for a new Greyhound buss line on Tuesday.

The route has eight stops that go between Danville and Chicago. The other stops in the route include Champaign, Bloomington Normal, Elgin, Rochelle and Olgesby.

The bus will pick up in Rockford at 8:35 am and drop off at 5:15 pm.

Transit leaders like Lee-Ogle Transportation System Assistant Director Kari Wolfe believe the route gives people more than just an easy trip to Chicago.

“This stop isn’t just getting people from Chicago to Danville,” Wolfe said. “It’s getting you into those bigger cities to then make those connection and go different places.

Service for this route is active.
