Parishioners at a Chicago church believe they have witnessed a “miracle” after a Virgin Mary painting began weeping inside the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, which is headed to bankruptcy court Tuesday.
The bankruptcy is concerning an $8 million debt.
A church worker noticed the tears flowing down the cheeks fo the icon of the Virgin Mary on Sunday and took a picture.
That picture was shared on social media and since then, a steady flow of worshipers from the city and the suburbs visited the church to see it for themselves.
The sighting comes as the church faces financial hardship. It’s about $8 million in debt and unless the money can be raised quickly, the building will be sold.
But until then, worshipers are holding on to the memories
