ROCKFORD (WREX) – People at a Rockford McDonald’s got to hang out with members of the Rockford Police Department.

It’s part of, “Cookie With a Cop,” which took place at the McDonald’s at 930 W. Riverside Blvd. Not only were those at the restaurant able to interact with officers, they also got a free cookie.

“As police officers, we can’t accomplish the task of crime fighting without the community helping us and giving the information they know,” said. Asst. Deputy Chief Andre Brass of the Rockford Police Department. “And the best way for them to give us the information is if they trust us and we build relationships with them.”

Brass says there will be other events held at local McDonald’s in the near future.
