SOUTH BELOIT – The Sobos football team played its first home game of the 2019 season on Saturday afternoon, honoring its senior class.

South Beloit hosted Westville, who made the three-plus hour drive from east of Champaign, for the non-conference matchup. The Tigers opened up a 14-0 lead before Harlan Southworth got the Sobos on the board in the first half.

Down 21-6, the Sobos showed off their passing attack with Chris Hummer finding Cortez Johnson in stride for a long catch-and-run score. That was the last time South Beloit scored in a 34-12 loss to the Tigers.

The Sobos return to NAC play this Friday night, facing Rockford Christian.
