Police: Belvidere North High School on lockdown

UPDATE:  Lockdowns have been lifted at Belvidere North High School, Central Middle School and Seth Whitman Elementary School after a reported threat this morning.

The lockdown happened Thursday morning after the Boone County Sheriff’s Office says a 911 call was made this morning alerting them to a potential threat at Belvidere North High School.

No details can be released about the nature of the call, but authorities say all students are safe and schools are secure.

The school district says Central Middle School and Seth Whitman students will be released according to their normal schedules.

Belvidere North students will be released shortly so the building can be cleared. Buses are ready for students to take their regular route home. Students who need to wait for a ride will be waiting in the stadium.

Central Middle School students who were at North will be taking a bus back to Central and will be released at the end of the day according to Central Middle School’s regular schedule.

There are no after school activities for Central or North. After school care will continue at SWES.
