ROCKFORD (WREX) — We can not completely rule out the chance for a shower or storms to move in during the evening. The storms during this time will stay sub severe. The main threats will remain lightning and potential for a few downpours. Otherwise, we have mostly cloudy sky. It looks like the cloud cover has kept us cool. Highs have only climbed into the upper 70’s and lower 80’s so far. Despite the cooler highs, we are still going to be muggy. Dew points have sat in the upper 60’s to lower 70’s.
Overnight, The mini-stretch for dry weather might try to come to an end in the early part of the night. A few showers and storms may be popping up before moving out overnight. This will be thanks to a cold front that will be moving into the area, but this does not mean that temperatures are on the fall. Low temperatures for the night will rest in the middle 60’s with mostly cloudy skies. The threat for fog under this very humid regime will linger into Monday morning and could be a constant threat until humidity decreases into Wednesday.
Early next week, we’ll stay very warm and near 90 degrees. The heat index may be in the 90’s for a couple of days next week. There will chance for rain lingering at the start of the week. A high pressures system will set up over the region leading to a very tranquil weather pattern for Monday.
Showers and storms are possible on Tuesday with the Storms Prediction center already calling for a Slight Risk (2 out of 5), then drier and cooler weather will slide in for the middle to late portions of next week. High temperatures might even fall into the upper 70’s to lower 50’s to end the week.
