Rockford not for profit organization holds 5K run to help reverse childhood obesity epidemic

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A local organization says it’s fighting the nationwide childhood obesity epidemic starting right here in the Rockford area.

Faithful 2 Fitness held it’s Fourth Annual Fight Obesity 5K Run and Walk with Me event on Saturday Morning at Peak Sports Club in Loves Park.

The annual event looks to raise awareness of the organization’s mission to reverse the nation-wide childhood obesity epidemic, while providing a fun, encouraging, and united environment to talk about the value of a healthy lifestyle.

Organizer’s say in a world full of negativity, the run allows participants to focus on positivity and creating a healthier place for all of us to live.

“The one thing we can have in common is we can all get together and encourage each-other to get healthier.” says Dr. Katrina Nguyen, Faithful 2 Fitness founder. “And this is the type of event that helps all of us unite with a common purpose of helping to reverse childhood obesity across America.”
