ROCKFORD (WREX) — Thousands of people across the city of Rockford celebrated 815 pride on Thursday, but only one woman was lucky enough to welcome the first Rockford Day baby.
Baby Rhylee was welcomed into the world at 2:16 a.m. Thursday. She weighed in at 5-pounds, 15-ounces and measured 18 inches in length, all numbers in the 815 area code.
Rhylee is her mother’s second child. Her mother and big sister couldn’t be more excited to start their new journey with Rhylee.
“It’s just very exciting, it’s very unexpected because she’s seven,” says Breana Sturdivant about her first child. “And them being seven years apart, it’s like starting all over fresh. I’m kinda scared, anxious, but I’m ready.”
Breana is originally from Detroit, but has lived in the Rockford area for over 26 years.
Rhylee was delivered at Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Riverside campus. Mother and baby are doing well. Congratulations to Sturdivant and her family!
