LOVES PARK (WREX) — The city of Rockford wrapped up its 815 Day celebration with a concert at Choice Furniture Field at Rivets Stadium. The concert featured famous rapper Snoop Dogg along with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Warren G.
Thousands of people filled the stadium excited to see the performances. Because of the crowds, safety was top of mind for local authorities. Security used metal detectors on guests and performed pat-downs. The venue told 13 WREX earlier this month that it had plans for heightened security, and concert-goers say they appreciated it.
“I’m feeling very safe going to this concert. They pointed us out and told us where we needed to go park and where we needed to go in and get out to enter the concert. I feel very good right about now,” said Greg Smith, who went to the concert.
Loves Park Police and Winnebago County were part of the increased security measures for Thursday’s concert.
