ROCKFORD(WREX)—A new study by Ball State University has graded the state off Illinois an overall “C” for its manufacturing industry.
The study was done by the Center for Business and Economic Research.
States were graded on a scale of A through F and researchers used topics like health benefits, global reach, productivity and innovation to grade the states.
Illinois received lower ranks for tax climate and worker benefits.
Rockford Manufacturers say the study doesn’t represent our area well, adding the industry in our area is thriving.
“I don’t agree with the C rating I think we deserve a B. Manufacturing, it seems really strong and it seems a lot busier and more steady,” said Folkerts Manufacturing Inc. Owner Ron Folkerts.
