Three people arrested following traffic stop in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Three people were taken into custody after a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

Rockford Police say the SCOPE unit tried to stop a vehicle near the intersection of 5th Ave. and 9th St. when the vehicle did not stop.

Police say the vehicle traveled for a few more blocks before coming to a stop.

Officers say six people were inside the car as well as a gun, a small amount of crack cocaine and a small amount of cannabis. Three of the people in the car were charged, according to police.

Latisha Lee, 34, of Rockford, was charged with a DUI and fleeing to elude police officers.

Mark McClain, 48, of Rockford, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Deanton Davis, 23, of Rockford, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, no FOID and having two outstanding warrants.

All three were taken to the Winnebago County Jail.

The three other people inside the vehicle were not charged.
