LOVES PARK (WREX) — A local wildlife rescue allowed two of its patients to spread their wings to freedom.
Hoo Haven released two bald eagles at Rock Cut’s Olson Lake in Loves Park.
The eagles had been at the sanctuary for just over a year after being taken in when they were just juveniles.
Hoo Haven says the release of these previously endangered birds is a perfect teaching moment for conservation.
“At any given time, you know, something can throw off and make the domino effect. So, cutting trees down and not replacing them, please don’t pollute our waters, what you do to the animals, you really do to all of us,” Hoo Haven Director Karen M. Herdklotz said.
Hoo Haven says it plans to release two more eagles between now and next spring.
