Man suffers serious injury after crash in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY (WREX) — A man is seriously hurt after a crash in DeKalb County on Saturday.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says it happened on Snake Rd., just north of Cherry Valley Rd.

Authorities say the driver of a 2003 Chevy Impala lost control after hitting gravel. The car ended up hitting a tree before coming to a stop.

The driver, Clayton Harris, 18, of Genoa, was taken to OSF Saint Anthony Hospital in Rockford with what the sheriff’s office says are serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger in the car was also hurt, but refused medical attention, according to the sheriff’s office.

Harris was charged with failing to reduce speed and operating a vehicle without insurance.
