House goes up in flames early Sunday morning

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A house catches fire early Sunday morning in Rockford.

The Rockford Fire Department was called to the scene to a house being on fire in the 2100 block of Parmele St. around 3 a.m.

First responders arrived on scene and found fire coming from the first and second floor of the home. Additional crews were called to the scene to help provide ventilation, lighting and manpower to battle the fire.

Crews say the scene was under control around 5:30 a.m.

The fire department estimates damage to be upwards of $70,000.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
