Hoo Haven releases two eagles back into the wild

LOVES PARK (WREX) – Hoo Haven released two bald eagles back into the wild at Rock Cut State Park’s Olson Lake on Saturday morning.

The eagles had been at the sanctuary for just over a year after they were welcomed in as juveniles. Hoo Haven says the release of these previously endangered birds is a perfect teaching moment for conservation.

“At any given time, you know, something can throw off and make the domino effect,” says Hoo Haven Director Karen Herdklotz. “So cutting trees down and not replacing them, please don’t pollute our waters, what you do to the animals, you really do to all of us.”

The wildlife sanctuary says its planning to release two more eagles between now and next spring.
