ROCKFORD (WREX)- Dozens of kids came to the Discovery Center Friday to break out saws, hammers and screwdrivers for the second ever “Maker Mania.”

Kids were able to use their creativity to build box guitars, flashlights and mini cars using real tools.

They could then take those toys they built home with them.

“It brings them together, not just to play, but it teaches them science, engineering, mathematics, all at the same time,” said Corinne Sosso, Discovery Cetner Director of Programs. “We threw in some art as well.”

The “Maker Mania” is part of the Discovery Center’s themed events every Friday.
