Rockford meets with landlords to end homelessness in the area

ROCKFORD (WREX) — The city of Rockford is hoping to team up with area landlords in an effort to end homelessness.

The goal of the meeting was to inform landlords of available programs to keep people housed and off the streets.

City leaders like Angie Walker, who is Rockford’s homeless program coordinator, hope the meeting creates a partnership between the city and landlords.

“It’s really a community effort,” Walker said. “We are, like I said, trying to end homelessness in the community, and we can’t do it without the help of our landlords. We need them.”

This is the first time the city has hosted an event like this.
