Man sentenced to 12 years in prison for CherryVale Mall shooting

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man will spend 12 years in prison for a shooting at the CherryVale Mall.

Twenty-nine-year-old Marchello Johnson was sentenced on Thursday, according to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.

On March 18, 2018, a fight broke out in the parking lot outside of Barns & Noble an Johnson fired several shots in between two vehicles.

No one was hurt in the shooting.

A jury found Johnson guilty after a jury trial.
