Five Rockford Officers receive promotions

ROCKFORD (WREX)- Five Rockford Police Officers move up the ranks in the Rockford Police Department.

In a Wednesday ceremony, three officers became detectives, Detective Brian Mace, Detective Rob Washo and Detective Chris Popielarczyk.

Detective Dave Patterson was promoted to Sergeant and Sergeant Randy Berke was promoted to Lieutenant.

All five celebrated their achievement and promotion with family and those who have helped them along the way.

“As well as being the commander on the streets while I’m working, I wanna be able to mentor some of the younger sergeants, some of the younger officers, and just help kinda guide them along the way as well too,” said newly promoted Lt. Randy Berke.

Lt. Berke has been with the department since 1991 and has two other family members in the Rockford Police Department.
