Girls & Boys Golf Classics tee off in Rockford

ROCKFORD – The Greater Rockford Girls and Boys Classics teed off at Ingersoll Golf Course in Rockford on Wednesday as the Forest City golfing season heads into the homestretch.

Recently crowned Women’s City champion Katelyn Sayyalinh is heading into her senior season at Guilford, and can win her second straight tournament this week. She’s tied for the lead in the Girls City with Ella Greenberg, each at +1 (72). Kayla Sayyalinh is in third place at +6, with Megan Thiravong in fourth at +8.

The Boys City also has carryover from its adult tournament counterpart – Thomas Baker Jr. finished fourth overall at the Men’s City, and hasn’t slowed down – he shot a -5 (66) at Ingersoll with five birdies and no bogeys to take a five-shot lead into Thursday’s final round. Adam Kuhar went even with a 71 to hold on to second place. Evan Baxter, Owen Hultman, and Nolan Brauns are all tied for third at +1, with Bennett Baker in sixth at +4.
