ROCKFORD (WREX) — Middle schoolers and high schoolers at Rockford Public Schools will get to sleep in a little bit longer this year.
The school district announced all RPS 205 middle schools and high schools will have late start Thursday’s this year.
Every Thursday, schools will start 30 minutes later than normal. The bus schedule and breakfast at the school will also be pushed back by 30 minutes.
The school district says late starts will give teachers uninterrupted time once a week to collaborate and review student achievement data.
The late start Thursday’s comes on-top of the middle schools start times being pushed back from 8:45 to 9 a.m. On late start Thursday’s, those schools will start at 9:30 a.m.
