ROCKFORD – Dozens of kids from ages 7-15 flocked to Aldeen Golf Club for Thursday’s local qualifier of the Drive, Chip and Putt competition. The top three finishers in each age group qualified for the sub-Regional competition in Mundelein. It’s a chance for kids to have some fun in a friendly competition, while putting their golf skills to the test.

“It’s an amazing event,” 10-year-old Ailani Thiravong said. “It’s such a great opportunity. I’d like to thank Drive, Chip and Putt for hosting this event.”

If kids make it all the way to Nationals, they earn a trip to Augusta National to compete ahead of the Masters. But more than the great competition, Drive, Chip and Putt fosters a love for the game in kids at a young age.

“I love playing golf,” Thiravong said. “It’s a great opportunity to see new courses and meet new people.”
