ROCKFORD (WREX) — One Winnebago County board member wants the board to consider an idea that would involve the group appointing a chairman, instead of voters electing one.
Dave Fiduccia of District 11 proposed the concept. He explained that as a township form of government, the board can technically appoint the chairman or make it a part-time position.
The decision to make that change could actually come from voters and not the board. Fiduccia says it could effectively save the tax-payers money.
“It’s something that I think the whole board should look at,” Fiduccia said. “I can’t say whether I’m going to approve it or disapprove it or whether I support it or don’t support it, but I certainly think it’s something we need to look at.”
Fiduccia brought the idea up at Monday night’s committee meeting. It is important to note there was no discussion about it from the Personnel and Policies Committee itself.
