ROCKFORD (WREX) – A group cycling cross-country for people with disabilities stopped in Rockford today.
The Ability Experience is traveling from San Francisco to Washington D.C. raising money and awareness for people with disabilities. Twenty-two cyclists are part of the journey.
They stop in towns along the way and despite the heat were determined to make it to Rockford today.
“They use the people that we serve as motivation. So sometimes when we wake up in the morning, like we’ll talk about we’ll have ride dedications and a lot of guys will actually like dedicate the rides to people that we have interacted with like the night before or even like a week ago,” Jeff Michaud, Project Manager for the Ability Experience.
Friday the group traveled 120 miles from Davenport, Iowa to Rockford. The ability experience will reach Washington, D.C. on August 10.
