Driver arrested, charged with dragging ISP trooper

CHICAGO (WREX)- A Chicago man is charged with attempted murder, accused of dragging an Illinois State Police trooper with his car. It was all caught on the trooper’s dash cam.

The video shows the trooper walking up to the car and reaching for the door when the car starts to take off. The trooper grabs onto the car in an attempt to stop the driver, but the car keeps going. The officer was dragged for a half-block, but was not seriously hurt. This happened May 26.

Police say the suspect, Christopher Overton, was arrested July 12. He’s now charged with attempted first degree murder.
