Kayaker rescued from Rock River in Rockton

ROCKTON (WREX)- Rockton fire crews say a kayaker is lucky to be alive after she fell into the Rock River Wednesday night.

Firefighters were called to the railroad bridge in Rockton around 7:30 p.m.

They say the kayaker capsized after launching her kayak from Settler’s Park.

When rescuers reached her, they say she was wearing a life jacket, but was barely clinging to her anchored kayak.

Firefighters say that if no one heard her scream for help and called them, she may not have survived.

She was not hurt.
