ROCKFORD (WREX) — Families are getting the chance to celebrate the Fourth of July with art and science.
Thursday was the first day of the Kaboom event at the Discovery Center Museum. People got to make noisemakers, launch mini rockets, and make firework art. The museum also has what’s called its Boom Show, where people get to blow things up.
To fight the heat, the museum held a water balloon toss.
“So we’ll do a little bit of the science with fireworks as well as just coming out and having fun. Come build a rocket to go stomp outside and launch it,” said Maggie Ruggerio, the education specialist at the Discovery Center.
Kaboom wraps up with its final day tomorrow. It’s goes from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
