ROCKFORD (WREX) — A family-owned business that’s been in Rockford for nearly 30 years is closing its doors for good at the end of the month.

Imperial Palace, one of Rockford’s most treasured Chinese restaurants, will close at the end of the day on June 30.

It’s been in business for 27 years at 3415 E State St. The owners say it’s a tough decision to make after serving its loyal customers over the years, however they say they’re losing cooking staff.

“We’ve tried to train several new chefs, but it’s just been really difficult,” Imperial Palace Owner Karen and Paul Lai said.

Customers are encouraged to eat at the restaurant one last time before it closes at the end of the day on Sunday.
