ROCKFORD (WREX) – The stage was set Thursday night at the Rockford Art Museum for the second annual Fashion in Bloom show.
30 models hit the runway for the fashion show showcasing flowers, accessories and clothes from local artists. The event not only provided a platform for the artists to shine, but it also raised money for the Rockford Art Museum. The museum hoped to raise $60,000 from their activities. Organizers believe the funds will provide an opportunity for art to make a difference in the community.
“We are all about showing our collection, educating and putting on exhibitions, and these funds are going to go a long ways to bring art into the community and make a difference–help people see differently through an engagement with art,” said David Boccignone, who is the President of the Rockford Art Museum’s Board of Trustees.
Art in Bloom also wrapped up its last day of the annual exhibition. Each floral piece is put together by a floral designer who has been assigned a piece of art to mimic how they choose.
“The whole entire gallery is just filled with floral pieces that are representing the artwork,” said Carrie Johnson, who is a curator at the Rockford Art Museum.
The gallery closed out the exhibit with the fashion show. The event sold out.
