Family Peace Center discussed at annual Rockford Urban Ministries dinner

ROCKFORD (WREX) – A special event on Thursday night in Rockford talked about the importance of bringing a Family Peace Center to the city.

Rockford Urban Ministries hosted its annual dinner at Second Congregational/First Presbyterian Church. Retired judge Rosemary Collins was the guest speaker at the event. She addressed, “My Journey to the Family Peace Center.” The Peace Center will be a place for survivors of domestic violence and a resource for sexual assault survivors.

“It’s a great fit-in with Rockford Urban Ministries because Rockford Urban Ministries really has a sense of collaboration and working for the community trying to help people,” said Collins. “And that’s what our goal is in the Family Peace Center.”

This year was Rockford Urban Ministries’ 57th dinner. Money raised from the event goes towards the work Rockford Urban Ministries does in the community.
