ROCKFORD (WREX) —  Landscaping damage at the North Main roundabout receives a helping hand.

Veterans Memorial Circle on the roundabout of North Main and Auburn in Rockford was damaged this weekend. Volunteers say that a driver drove over the plants and grass on Saturday night, leaving track marks behind.

When Village Green on North Main heard the news, they stepped in to help. The store offered free pallets of flowers to replant and fix the damage. Management says it’s the least they could do.

“Oh it’s the least we can do,” says Jesse Parish, Village Green Nursery Manager. “I mean, Ernie and Rick and Helen and all the volunteers out there are taking care of everything and at the very least I can give them some flowers.”

The work to beautify Veterans Memorial Circle is funded entirely by private donations.
