ROCKFORD – The first Chicagoland Summer Showcase unfolded with a packed schedule of games on Saturday at Rock Valley College and Guilford High School.

Rockford-area teams, plus dozens of out of state competition from other Midwestern states, converged on the Forest City for group and bracket play to put their skills on display for coaches and scouts. Schools from the Mid-American Conference, Big Ten, Big East, Horizon League, and other Division I conferences were in attendance, dutifully taking notes.

“It’s neat to look at the coaches section and see guys you see on TV,” said Rockford Lutheran coach Tom Guse. “Kudos to the people that put this together, they did a great job. It’s a lot of fun, for anyone that loves the game of basketball, you should come out because there’s a lot of good hoops going on.”

Games continue on Sunday at RVC and Guilford. For a complete schedule, click here.
