ROCHELLE (WREX) – A stabbing near Rochelle leaves three people in the hospital Tuesday night.
Just before 11 p.m., the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office says it was called to the 14000 block of East Route 64, near Route 251, where they found a man bleeding heavily from a stab wound in his leg.
The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office says the altercation started when 4 people, all in the same vehicle, pulled off the road and into the Grubsteakers parking lot. An altercation ensued and that is when the stabbing took place.
The owner of Grubsteakers tells 13 WREX she confronted the people in the altercation and the stabbing did not happen on the restaurant’s property. She tells us it happened out near the intersection of Route 64 and Route 251.
None of the four people involved were patrons of the restaurant, according to authorities.
A second man, identified as 36-year-old William Shively of Ocala, Florida, had minor injuries and was taken into custody. A woman on scene had minor injuries as well from an altercation with Shively. All three were taken to the hospital for treatment.
After further investigation, Shively was charged with aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, and battery.
Shively was taken to Ogle County Jail where he remains without bond.
CLARIFICATION: An earlier version of this article reported that the stabbing took place at Grubsteakers restaurant. While that was the information initially reported by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, that information was not complete. A follow-up call to the sheriff’s office concluded the police report states it happened in the parking lot, not at the restaurant itself. The owner continues to refute that it happened in the parking lot.
