Rockford public safety survey deadline is Sunday

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockfordians have less than a week to provide their feedback on public safety in the city.

The Region 1 Planning Council is asked for the community to take the survey to improve policing and develop strategies to reduce violent crime within the community.

The council said almost 1,200 people have completed the survey but the 61101 west and 61102 zip codes are less represented in the survey compared to the population.

“We want everyone to have equal representation,” Regional Grants Program Manager at R1PC, Marlana Dokken said. “It is important that everyone’s voices are heard regarding crime and their perception of crime and policing in the city of Rockford.”

Now the council is making its final push for all residents to take the survey before the Sunday deadline.

“We want to make sure that as many individuals in the community who live, work, or go to school in the city of Rockford participate,” Dokken said.

Survey participants must be 18 years of age or older and either work, live, or attend school in Rockford. The survey is voluntary, anonymous and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Anyone interested in taking the survey can access it by clicking one of the following links:

This survey will close on Sunday, June 23rd at 11:59 pm.

The R1PC will be at Washington Park Community Center on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. to help people without access to a computer.
