ROCKFORD (WREX) — Members of Rockford Sharefest have chosen Davis Park as the site of its next project.

The group plans to paint railings and fences, plant flowers, clear away any trash, and other restorative jobs. They began working Tuesday and will continue working through Saturday.

Project leaders say they are still looking for additional volunteers.

“We need hundreds of volunteers in the next three and a half days that we have left to finish strong,” site leader for Rockford Sharefest Jessica Westberg said. “We get a semi of plants tomorrow and a semi of mulch. We’re going to need to spread that, so we definitely still need hundreds to come down and help us get it done.”

Rockford Sharefest has three different time slots for volunteers looking for shifts. Those are 8 a.m. to noon, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

No prior work experience is required.
