Naked man arrested after breaking into Dixon home

DIXON (WREX) — A man is in custody after police say he broke into a home and stripped down naked.

Joel Gartman, 52, of Dixon, faces several charges.

Police say Gartman broke into a home in the 200 block of S. Dement Ave. on Thursday. Officers say Gartman entered the home by tearing a screen and forcing a window open.

Once inside, Gartman unscrewed light bulbs and took some alcohol out of the refrigerator, according to police.

Authorities say Gartman found someone sleeping inside on the floor. Once Gartman encountered the sleeping person, he took off all of his clothes and sat next to the person sleeping while holding a fire place poker.

Once the person woke up, they ran upstairs to wake someone else up. Both people then called police.

Gartman faces several charges, including residential burglary, criminal trespassing, criminal damage to a property, theft and two counts of disorderly conduct.
