PECATONICA (WREX) — Police departments across the state are paying closer attention to drivers moving over for vehicles along the side of the road.
Illinois State Police District 16 handed out a total of 29 Scott’s Law citations in the month of May alone. They also issued 10 warnings.
Through the month of May, District 16 has issued 91 Scott’s Law citations and 30 warnings for the year.
ISP District 1 out of Sterling issued 24 Scott’s Law citations during the month of May.
ISP Director Brendan Kelly told 13 News that districts across the state have handed out about 750% more citations in 2019 than in 2018 in an effort to change the bad habits of drivers in the state.
