Italian Open-Air Market Opens for Summer Season

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A local Italian market is open for the first time in Rockford.

Pasqua Mercato is now open off of East State Street near Lino’s Restaurant, who is behind the new farmer’s market. The name is a tribute to the restaurant’s grandmother Pasqua, who  was the wife of the one and only Lino.

With the support of other area businesses, Lino’s restaurant hopes the market brings local families together, like Pasqua would have wanted.

“It is a place for community. That’s what we want, a place for the community to come together,” said Charlie Schweinler, the organizer.

The open-air market is open from 10 AM to 2 PM in the afternoon. It lasts until August 11th.
