ROCHESTER, MN – The Rock Valley College softball team had to win another national championship the hard way, but the Lady Golden Eagles answered the call.
RVC’s 9-6 loss to Herkimer on Friday in Rochester, Minnesota forced Darin Monroe’s club to return to action in Rochester, Minnesota on Saturday in need of three straight wins to claim a sixth straight national championship.
Up first, RVC beat Brookdale, 4-2 behind a complete game from Cadyn Ehrenberg. Up second, a rematch with Herkimer, and the Lady Golden Eagles erupted for a 21-6 victory thanks to six players recording multi-hit games, as well as a seven-run first inning and an eight-run fourth inning.
That set up a winner-take-all championship finale between the Lady Golden Eagles and Lady Generals. Breanna Crown delivered a complete game start in the circle, and a four-run fourth inning sealed the deal as RVC became the first junior college softball program in any division to win six straight national championships.
